Bassett House School is a traditional prep school with an innovative soul, nestled in leafy Notting Hill. Our small size means that each child is known and nurtured by every member of staff, and each is provided with an educational journey bespoke to their strengths and needs. Committed, inspirational teachers stretch pupils who are excelling as well as providing those who require extra help, the support and tools they need to achieve their goals. Continued provision after school allows pupils the freedom to stay behind to complete homework with the help of their teachers, which has proven effective in priming a positive attitude toward learning. A plethora of clubs is on offer after this time, with wrap around care available to support busy working parents.

No two days are alike and a Bassett House pupil benefits from learning across three world-class learning spaces, complete with state of the art Performing Arts Studio, library, stage and Scandinavian inspired Montessori Early Years spaces, and all within walking distance from one another. Every child spends quality time outside every day, whether that’s pursuing our sustainability curriculum in our urban garden, playing in nearby Kensington 'Rocket' Memorial Park, or partaking in sports fixtures.

With the help of expert specialist teachers, pupils are encouraged in a variety of enriching learning including entrepreneurial challenges and musical performances such as Battle of the Bands. During Art lessons, pupils learn about modern and classic artists such as Damien Hirst and Van Gogh, refining their eye for detail and manipulating a wide range of media. Pupils' artwork is proudly displayed around the school and during the annual Art Exhibition. Music classes include genres covering the popular to the gothic, fine-tuning auditory and performing skills with peripatetic lessons readily available. Pupils are encouraged to express themselves freely during end of year performances - ranging from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to School of Rock. Teachers harness the alchemy of learning and teach a future-proof curriculum, so that pupils leave Bassett House bold and brave enough to be fearless with their dreams, in order to embark upon remarkable futures.

Residential trips are a particular highlight for Bassett children, who have recently been measuring river velocities and learning about Constable at Flatford Mill, ordering in French in a market in Normandy, and considering the Viking architecture of York (to name but a few). These experiences help to develop rounded, outward looking, tenacious pupils, which serves them well in their Senior School interviews.

Our most recent ISI report rated our outcomes as outstanding across the board, and of 16 Year 6 pupils, two thirds were awarded scholarships, with over 70 offers of a place within some of London's most superior Senior Schools.

As a member of the Dukes Education group of schools, Bassett House benefits from the sharing of best practices across the group and potential all-through schooling options. Teachers are provided with world-class Professional Development, guidance, and support from the Governing Body.

Catering for Nursery (aged 3+) to Year 6, pupils learn through our values of Courage, Compassion and Commitment. As one school leaver put it, "At Bassett House, you learn Maths and English but more than that, you learn how to be yourself."

Bassett House is proud to be the best small school in Notting Hill. We are small enough to be bespoke, yet big enough to thrive.
