Derby Grammar School is nestled in the suburbs of Littleover, Derbyshire and boasts a safe and secluded lake-side environment perfect for exploration, discovery and enjoyment. Our site is conveniently positioned less than two miles from the A38, our grounds are easily accessible for families in the neighbouring towns and cities, as well as those in the local and surrounding areas of Derby.

Our grounds are home to an Infant, Junior and Senior School, all of which are interconnected to form our friendly, supportive and inclusive community.

As of September 2022, our Primary School (Infants and Juniors) will be co-educational seeing both boys and girls educated together. The Senior School will follow in the next academic year, making our whole school fully co-educational from September 2023. Our Sixth Form is already an established co-educational environment.

Welcome from Mr Logan, Head of Derby Grammar School

At Derby Grammar School you will find a vibrant, purposeful atmosphere that enables all members of our community to fulfil their potential. We are small enough to offer each individual what they need to learn, create and discover all they are capable of. Small class sizes, all of 20 or fewer, allows each pupil to flourish and progress in a community where every individual matters. We seek to find the best blend of traditional teaching and the opportunities created by new technology.

A wide variety of clubs and activities allow all our pupils to find something new to try, from academic stretch to Warhammer as well as offering leadership opportunities. A large number of trips and residential experiences enhance the educational offer and expand pupils' horizons. Our long established links with our partners, the Amani School school in Tanzania, give Sixth Form pupils a way to give something to the global community while learning invaluable life lessons.

Our ethos is Excellence, Encouragement and Enrichment. Academic excellence is at the heart of our approach. We aim to bring education to life, and this is not confined to the classroom. Enrichment is in evidenced on the sports field, stage and expedition. Encouragement is delivered by superb pastoral care with each individual valued and known for who they are, enabling pupils to have the secure foundation they need to achieve and acquire the skills needed for a post-COVID world.

Although our exam results speak for themselves, with our pupils placing at or near the top of league tables, we recognise grades are a starting point, not an end to the educational journey.

We hope you will come and visit us. You will find an exciting and stimulating atmosphere that is both caring and welcoming.
