Durlston Court Prep School is known for happy pupils, exceptional pastoral care, the breadth of opportunities and our excellent teaching and learning. We are a friendly, family school where the children and parents enjoy being part of a secure and happy community - the Durlston family.

Our Pre-Prep department (including Kindergarten) provides an outstanding foundation for learning within a nurturing and caring environment. Dedicated Pre-Prep facilities offer bright, spacious, indoor and outdoor learning areas. Our younger pupils also regularly visit other areas of the school to use specialist facilities and to be taught by our specialist teachers. Pre-Prep can often be found in 'The Den' - our Forest School, where the mud kitchen, art area and activities such as den building and stick whittling enhance our children's learning.

"The excellent outdoor facilities for learning…, allow many opportunities for quiet reflection and immersion in the natural world whilst learning." ISI, May 2017

Pupils at Durlston make full use of all of our impressive facilities and specialist teaching including our fully equipped Design and Technology Centre complete with 3D printers and laser cutter. We also offer various STEM related clubs from Engineering to Programming and we have 2 fully equipped IT suites. All pupils learn to play at least one musical instrument and are given regular opportunities to perform, helping them to develop their confidence. Our drama productions showcase talent but also provide opportunities for all pupils to be involved in a spectacular show including being part of the back stage technical team. Pupils also develop their creativity in the Art Room, Ceramics Studio and outdoors in our Art Terrace as well as further afield around our spacious grounds. From Year 3 all pupils have at least one hour of sport with daily lessons and weekly opportunities to compete in fixtures. Specialist coaching and teaching takes place across our extensive facilities. Additionally, we have over 50 activities and clubs on offer for pupils. There is something to suit everyone from our Tennis Academy to fencing, from construction to mindfulness.

"Pupils demonstrate high levels of success… in an extremely wide variety of activities including in the creative and performing arts and sport." ISI, May 2017

We are committed to promoting an all-round education and fully preparing our pupils for Senior School. Our academic achievements in terms of scholarships, entrance examinations and CE results speak for themselves. We are extremely proud of our pupils' academic success including 100% pass rate in Year 8 Common Entrance Examinations and we have a strong record of scholarship awards to senior schools in all areas including academics, sport, art and music demonstrating the all-round nature of a Durlston Education.

High expectations, both inside and outside the classroom, ensure pupils leave Durlston as well-rounded, independent and confident young people, equipped and prepared to engage and to succeed in the world of today and tomorrow.
