Rated Excellent in all areas by the ISI in January 2023, Hendon Prep is a small independent school for girls and boys from 3-11 years old.
With a long-standing reputation for providing a holistic education, Hendon Prep is a school which prides itself on valuing well-being and academic attainment equally and has created an environment which celebrates diversity and inclusion.
This strong focus on belonging and wellbeing leads to great academic progress and outcomes, with children moving onto some of the most selective senior schools in the country at 11+, often with scholarships.
In their recent inspection report the ISI noted that "Pupils of all ages and abilities achieve well and make excellent progress from their varied starting points, well above the national averages."
Classes are small, and Hendon Prep offers a truly personalised approach to leaning, ensuring that pupils are stretched and challenged daily to ensure they meet their own unique potential, and ultimately develop a lifelong love of learning.
The ISI inspectors noted that "Pupils demonstrate an excellent attitude to learning from an early age and throughout the school, in response to teaching which encourages initiative and independence."
From the very start of their educational journey in the Preschool class, children benefit from subject specialist teaching in music, French and PE. The curriculum is further enriched at each stage with the addition of Art as a specialist subject in Reception, Spanish from Year 1, verbal and non-verbal reasoning from Year 2, and from Year 3 upwards the children are taught by subject specialist teachers across the board.
The school provides a fantastic range of facilities to enhance pupils' learning and experience. They have bright and well-resourced classrooms, complete with an ICT suite, dedicated Art and Design studio, music room, library, and a fully equipped science laboratory. A large playground and outside classroom give pupils much needed space for play and outdoor learning. With a planting area, amphitheatre, Astroturf football and netball pitch and giant chess board, playtimes are full of fun at Hendon Prep.
