L'Ecole de Battersea opened in 2005 following on the success of its sister school, L'Ecole des Petits. The school combines the best elements of the English and French systems, with highly qualified teachers who provide a truly bilingual and rich cultural education from age three through to age eleven. Immersed in both languages and cultures on a daily basis, the pupils develop enquiring minds, strong self-confidence and a profound sense of understanding and tolerance of others.

The school community is very closely knit together, and offers strong support to a diverse range of over 32 nationalities. The aim is for pupils to reach oral, written and written fluency in both English and French by the time they leave the school at age 11. The teaching emphasis throughout the school is fundamentally based on the French system, into which aspects of the English curriculum and methodology are integrated.

The highly motivated bilingual team of teachers is qualified in both the English and French educational systems. This bilingual facility enables children and parents to choose to progress on to either the English private school system or to the French Lycée system, and is also ideal for the increasingly popular International Baccalaureate.

The school welcomes pupils from a range of cultures, and so aims to generate a truly international atmosphere. Partnership with the family is paramount in the school’s ethos, and the school successfully seeks to develop confident and balanced children with experience of a wide range of activities, an appreciation of artistic and cultural heritage and a thoughtful and considerate attitude towards others.

L'Ecole de Battersea is also committed to maintaining the safest environment possible with the installation of high-performance air purification equipment in all classrooms, and other common areas, reducing pollution and the risk of infection.

The school is only a five-minute drive from Chelsea and operates a twice daily school bus service between South Kensington and Battersea, as well as a link to its sister school in Fulham.

L'Ecole de Battersea is inspected by both the French Inspectorate and Ofsted and achieves excellent academic results. OFSTED 2022 report qualified the school as "Outstanding in all categories".
