Queen's Gate School is an independent day school for girls between the ages of 4 and 18 years, situated in the educational and cultural heartland of South Kensington. Founded in 1891, the school has long held a reputation for its originality, such as its lack of uniform.

The school is academically aspirational, where each girl is encouraged and empowered to go beyond her academic potential. The emphasis on self-motivation and self-determination is coupled with diligent support from a highly committed staff body, which together bring outstanding academic outcomes. Pupils leave Queen's Gate to go to universities across the UK, including Russell Group institutions and Oxbridge, as well as destinations further afield such as NYU, Harvard and MIT.

The Principal, Miss Amy Wallace, joined Queen's Gate in September 2022 and continues to build on the existing strengths of the school, whilst enabling girls to enjoy new opportunities in and out of the classroom.

In the Senior School, girls follow as wide a curriculum as possible and generally take GCSEs in ten subjects that must include English, Mathematics, at least one science and a modern language. A full range of A Level subjects is offered. In the Lower Sixth girls normally take three/four subjects and in addition many complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The girls are offered excellent careers advice to assist in their UCAS and US applications.

Sport is highly valued at Queen's Gate with two compulsory sessions for all girls each week. A whole range of sports are available during the school day including netball, athletics, basketball, hockey, fencing, swimming, rowing, cross-country, biathlon and dance. Girls achieve much success, with some earning national and international status.

Co-curricular activities at Queen's Gate see girls taking part in Model United Nations conferences throughout the year, become part of clubs including the horticultural society, STEM club and Cosmetics club and experience trips around the UK and abroad to enhance their learning experience.

Music plays a large role in the school life, with concerts and recitals throughout the school year both in and out of school, and Drama productions across both the Junior and Senior schools see girls performing at venues including RADA Studios and the Chelsea Theatre.

The Junior School is situated just a few yards down the road from the Senior School at 125 and 126 Queen's Gate. The beautifully restored buildings boast spacious form rooms, three fully equipped laboratories, a state-of-the-art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) Room and an elegant Assembly Hall. Junior pupils also use Senior School facilities and benefit from specialist subject teaching from Senior School staff. Senior girls often visit the Junior School to assist with activities, thus reinforcing the continuity of education from 4-18 available at the school.

Admission is by test and interview in the Junior School. Entrance to the Senior School is by the London 11+ Consortium entrance examination. Applicants for the Sixth Form must achieve six GCSEs at Grade 7 or above with Grade 8 or 9 (or their equivalent) required in those subjects they wish to pursue at A Level.

In addition to the Open Events in the Senior and Junior Schools throughout the year, parents are always welcome to make a private visit to see the schools at work. Appointments can be made by contacting the Registrar on 0207 594 4982 or by email registrar@queensgate.org.uk.
