St Columba's College, is a school that prides itself on an education of both the head and the heart. We are committed to excellence in all areas of our College life, from the academic rigour in the classroom through to providing our young people with a wide range of specialist programmes that will enhance and enrich their lives.

From our Prep School through to the Senior School and Sixth Form, a Columban education is instilled in our students - that success lies in the practice of Courage, Courtesy and Compassion and we see this reflected in every member of the College community. Our pastoral care is excellent and our relationships with each other reflect the core values of the College and its belief that true education is holistic.

In a rapidly changing world, we believe that St Columba's College equips our boys and girls with academic standards and values that they need for success and, in recognising the uniqueness of our students, we prepare them to be the leaders of the future.

Academic Excellence

Our students achieve the highest standards through academic challenge and rigour. Scholarship is encouraged and celebrated throughout the school at all levels. Knowledge acquisition in itself is not a singular goal, but one to be supported by developing the qualities of intellectual enquiry and acuity.

We foster a love of learning through the agency of passionate and inspirational teachers, who challenge students to step out of their comfort zones, embark on critical thinking, foster creative output, and take charge of their education. Our teachers combine the old and the new using individual Surface Pros to enhance learning as well as other innovative teaching and learning techniques. Equipping our young people with all that is needed for future work and life is a fundamental goal of our educational philosophy.

Academic achievement in public examination at GCSE and A-level is excellent. The majority of students progress to their universities of choice and embark upon study of a diverse range of disciplines. Others go on to gain prestigious apprenticeships prior to embarking on successful future careers.

Ethos & Values

St Columba's College was founded in 1939, and since 1955 it has been a member of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart global community of schools. It is unique in being the only such school in the UK. We are proud to be a Catholic school, and we welcome pupils of all faiths. Our goal is to provide a moral and religious education inspired by the charism of the Brothers.

Education in the spirit of Father Coindre's charism is a holistic education, rooted in religious values, structured through friendly discipline, nurtured by personal attention, and committed to academic excellence.

We teach our pupils the Columban values of courage, courtesy and compassion to enable them to become confident and well-rounded individuals. The ultimate aim is to leave people and places better than they find them.

St Columba's pupils are academically successful, intellectually curious, happy and empathetic.
