Happiness is at the heart of the philosophy at St Johns' Wood Pre-Prep School, and it works. This small school, described by owner and Principal, Adrian Ellis, as feeling more like a private members' club, is a 7+ specialist school. Year 2 pupils regularly receive offers from schools including: Belmont; City of London School; Highgate; Pembridge Hall, Queen's College Prep, South Hampstead High School; St Paul’s Juniors; UCS Junior School and Westminster Under School.

With a friendly and caring environment as its strength for three-to seven-year-old boys and girls, Mr Ellis believes that the excellent ratio of staff to pupils allows each child to reach their full potential. "Of course, together with parents, we look to establish each child’s unique qualities and particular talents and aim to develop them as fully as possible," said Mr Ellis.

Parents have high expectations of the school. Mr Ellis points out this is a two way street, "Equally, we have high expectations of our parents. This combination is the recipe for success."

Following this year's excellent results, St John's Wood Pre-Prep remains a recommended 'feeder' to many of London's top prep schools.

One parent wrote: "There are private schools and then there is St. John's Wood Pre-Prep." Mrs R, whose first child attended the school in 2016 and who went on to study at City of London School for Girls added, "We've been with Adrian and his staff pre Covid, during the pandemic and now post Covid and they have been very supportive, making sure that they have kept the community atmosphere throughout. It's one of the reasons my husband and I wanted our son to start his educational journey here."
