A thriving independent prep school for boys and girls, from three to 13 years old, Westbrook Hay is located between Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted, and set in 26 acres of beautiful parkland overlooking the Bourne Valley. Modern, spacious classrooms are coupled with small class sizes to provide an interactive and thoroughly stimulating learning environment.
These small class sizes, together with visionary teaching, fabulous facilities and a broad curriculum enable our children to gain the all-important confidence to succeed. As every parent will know, school is so much more than simply what is taught in lessons. At Westbrook Hay we aim to provide a learning experience that goes far beyond that of the classroom.
Our new and visiting parents are struck by the wonderful atmosphere at Westbrook Hay. The children are clearly confident, happy and secure in their environment, and view the school as an extended family to support them.
The greater opportunities provided in technology, art, games, music, dance, drama and a whole range of other extracurricular activities help to balance the school's high academic expectations and allow the children further opportunities to express themselves and try new things, learning vital skills along the way.
There is a fabulous purpose-built lower school that offers our youngest children superb space and facilities, giving them the best possible start to their education. We have a state-of-the-art IT suite, with two fully equipped rooms for IT lessons and use across the curriculum. A new Performing Arts Centre with a 300 seat theatre and full music and performance opportunities was opened in 2016.
In the preparation of our children for entry to their chosen senior school, we proudly boast 100% success. Most children go on to local independent schools and are prepared not only for entry but, when appropriate, for scholarship, with 14 scholarships awarded in 2017.
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) carried out a very successful inspection and regarded our school as 'Excellent' and our Early Years Foundation Stage as 'Outstanding', the highest possible recognition from the ISI for both age groups.
The best way to experience Westbrook Hay is by attending one of our Open Mornings or by making an appointment with our Headmaster, Keith Young. Please visit: www.westbrookhay.co.uk or telephone 01442 256143.
