Two Burgess Hill Girls school pupils are celebrating their triumph in the South of England Agricultural Society (SEAS) schools competition. Sophie Farrant (left), and Rosina Murray (right), both 11, won first prize in the KS3 Hanging Mobile category.

Over 65,000 visitors attended the South of England Agricultural Society summer show in Ardingly, where they enjoyed a showcase of British agriculture, horticulture, educational farming and countryside activities.

Pupils from 31 schools entered the competition. Sophie and Rosina were presented with certificates to mark their achievement and Burgess Hill Girls school won a bird box.

Burgess Hill Girls Head Liz Laybourn said: ‘This is a great achievement for Sophie and Rosina. The school’s situation so close to the beautiful countryside of the Sussex downs gives us a real connection to England’s enduring rural traditions. We’re looking forward to attracting a variety of species to the bird box.'
