We are Chesham Prep, a dedicated, nurturing, sporty, creative, inspiring and adventurous family.

Chesham Prep is a thriving school for boys and girls aged 3 to 13. It has a well-deserved reputation, dating back to its foundation in 1938, for being a friendly, family-orientated school at the heart of the local community. Set in the Bucks countryside, next to a working farm, it is a caring and nurturing community where the children aim high, work hard and achieve great things.

We are dedicated to delivering an outstanding education for all our pupils: through small class sizes, the passionate and dedicated staff and, of course, the specialist facilities which children have access to from a young age. There are shared expectations for striving towards academic excellence and pupils go on to record highly impressive results in exams for entry into senior schools; both Bucks Grammar Schools and excellent senior independent schools.

Our Early Years Department provides an extension of the love and security that your child has received at home, with specialist subjects such as French, Spanish, DT and Music taught at this early age. Our older children are offered a wide breadth of opportunity, the chance to develop new skills and great confidence. They are encouraged to take increasing personal responsibility, to be self-disciplined, fair-minded, honest and reliable within a supportive and caring framework. We encourage them to be responsible for their own learning and to show resilience when faced with challenges.

There is a wealth of opportunity for individual talents to flourish in the classroom, on the sports field and through involvement in the creative arts. Our current facilities include specialist areas for teaching Music, Science, Art, and Design Technology, and French and Spanish, plus a Learning Resource Centre and well-stocked library. The Adlington Hall is used for Drama, making use of the lighting and sound equipment. Sixty laptops and twenty iPads are available to use across the school, along with a range of other technologies such as digital cameras, Beebots and Lego WeDo. In 2016 we launched our Outdoor Learning area for use by all the school. The younger children use the wooden Pirate ship for adventurous play.

Chesham Prep also has 7 acres of fantastic on-site facilities for sport, including a large 800m2 sports hall, an all-weather pitch, an astro wicket, grass wicket and bowling machine and 2 large fields for all outdoor sports. Our indoor 4 lane, 25 metre swimming pool will be completed by September 2019.

As our children progress through Chesham Prep, parents begin to consider which Senior schools will best suit their child's needs in future. Throughout the school we track your child’s progress and Mr Beale is always happy to meet with you to discuss your child's strengths and suggest suitable future schools.

To make life easier for parents we offer extended care from Nursery onwards from 8am until 6pm, plus many clubs and activities after school. We have 4 bus routes on offer: Little Chalfont/Amersham/Chesham, Great Missenden, Wendover/Choleysbury and Tring/Berkhamsted, with one pick-up directly after school and one after clubs.

The best way to visit Chesham Prep is at one of our Open Mornings – www.cheshamprep.co.uk/admissions/open-days – or by making an appointment to visit Mr Beale, our Headmaster, contact the registrar on 01494 782619 or email registrar@cheshamprep.co.uk.

"The school has surpassed our expectations on every level." A parent

"Extremely strong subject knowledge and an infectious passion are apparent in all teachers across the school, which undoubtedly contributes to the pupils acquiring skills and confidence beyond expectations of the typical child of a similar age."

The 2016 ISI Report rated us excellent in all areas.
