Welcoming you to Clifton Lodge School
Thank you for considering our school, we hope this introduction will give you an insight into life at Clifton Lodge.
We are a small, independent preparatory school in Ealing, London, for boys and girls aged 3 to 11 years. We welcome children to join Clifton Lodge at any point in the school year where we have places available.
From Nursery when pupils are 3 years old through to Year 6 for excellent 11+ preparation.
The school motto – Optime: 'try always to do your best' summarises what is expected of everyone at Clifton Lodge. We help all pupils to achieve their best academically so that they can gain entry to the schools of their choice at 11+. We track pupils’ progress and potential which is a key tool when looking at senior school options. We also believe in working with our parents to bring out the full potential of their children. Promoting good manners, kindness and care for others is a key focus throughout the school.
We know that education is not just about academic subjects in the classroom. We believe it is about giving children a wide range of knowledge so that they can make informed choices and contribute positively to society. Our emphasis on character education develops resilience and a sense of self-awareness which enables our pupils to succeed. This allows pupils to find out who they are and what they can do. We include fundamental British values into all areas of our learning to enable our pupils to become global citizens.
In addition to art, music, drama and sports, pupils are encouraged to take part in many clubs and groups held each week. Pupils can also participate in residential trips, offering the opportunity to extend the curriculum further and inspire them with hands-on experiences.
Music is celebrated in many aspects of school life, from our choir, to individual instrumental lessons and weekly music classes. LAMDA Speech & Drama classes offer practice with public speaking; we also have an annual drama production, a Nativity play and ballet lessons.
Sport plays a large part in our curriculum with both on-site and off-site lessons each week. We celebrate our successes against other, often much larger, schools and recognise the talent within our Clifton Lodge community. Sports day, held in the summer term is always a popular, fun-filled day for our pupils, parents and staff alike.
We are committed to safeguarding and focus on all our pupils being happy and confident in a secure, nurturing environment. Clifton Lodge has a Christian ethos but welcomes children of all faiths and none. During term-time, care is available each day from 8am to 6pm with holiday club facilities offered on site.
Please visit us, either on an open day, held each term; or for a private tour of the school.
