Tailored, not uniform: when it comes to a good education, one size does not necessarily fit all.

Founded in 1973, MPW London is one of the UK's leading Sixth Form colleges, offering a distinctive alternative to traditional schools. Situated in the heart of one of the capital's most exclusive and vibrant locations, the college offers a socially relaxed yet highly academically disciplined environment.

A bespoke approach

Our model is based around a strong focus on exam preparation and equipping students with the skills, attitude and confidence to succeed at the country's top universities.

Students choose their own unique paths with GCSEs and A levels offered in over 40 subjects and in any combination. Whichever combination they choose, each student has a Director of Studies, who provides them with tailored academic and pastoral support. The teaching method has been devised with a focus on individual attention too - teaching is in small Oxbridge-style tutorial groups, each with fewer than 10 students.

But it's not just in the academic realm where students can express themselves. Walk over the threshold of an MPW college and you will immediately sense the relaxed, yet focused atmosphere. Students are treated like the young adults that they are; there is no school uniform, they are on first-name terms with their tutors, they are not patronised by allowing low expectations of behaviour or attainment and they are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves.

Strong results and progression

Despite having a non-selective admissions policy and a wide variety of courses targeted at students of different academic abilities, our students achieve outstanding overall results year after year. In particular, our 'value-added' score (the progress students make from GCSE to A level) is exceptional.

Over the last three years, an average of 48% of grades achieved were A*/A. These results opened the doors to some of the UK's best universities - all 24 Russell Group universities accepted MPW students in 2022 and 2023.

Learning to secure those prestigious university places is also a key element of the MPW experience. Students are given unrivalled support in completing UCAS applications by the same experts who put together the renowned Getting into series of books, which offers invaluable advice and guidance on how to secure that coveted place at a first-choice university.

Stunning location

MPW London is located in South Kensington (Zone 1), one of the most exclusive and affluent parts of the capital. It is just a few minutes’ walk from Hyde Park, Imperial College and many world-famous museums, including the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Rated Excellent by ISI

In our last Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) report, we received the highest rating of 'Excellent', prompting the inspectors to report, "The quality of the students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent. In line with the aims of the college, students are encouraged to develop confidence, self-belief and self-discipline."
