Northwood Senior opened in September 2020 as the fourth member of the Northwood Schools group. As a deliberately smaller school, it aims to offer an excellent secondary education in a more personal setting with an emphasis on equipping pupils with the skills and experiences they need to face their future with confidence. Alongside preparing for a wide range of GCCEs/IGCEs, we place great importance on well-being, community and social responsibility and in building and bolstering confidence within a friendly and supportive community.

THE CURRICULUM: Transformative teaching lies at the heart of our modern, stimulating curriculum which includes thematic studies, maths mastery and hands-on science, alongside well-being, community and life-skills. Our innovative approach leads to more active engagement in lessons, the development of higher-order thinking skills, strong teamwork, and motivated pupils who are better able to develop the real-world analytical and problem solving skills that pays dividends in examinations and stands them in good stead for the future.

GAMES & THE ARTS: As well as traditional sports such as football and netball, we are keen to explore alternative sports. We have our own sports court and located next to Tooting Common with the Lido and athletics track close by, and Streatham Leisure Centre and Ice Rink a short stroll away.

We strongly encourage creativity and have seen some great emerging talent in Art, DT, drama and film club.

PASTORAL CARE: We offer outstanding pastoral care to help each pupil develop the skills required for the challenges of modern life. Well-being is built into the weekly timetable and our tutorial system and thematic learning approach ensures that every pupil is well known, with all staff invested in the success and happiness of each pupil.

ENTRANCE AND EXIT: Main entrance in Year 7. Additional places in Year 9 with preferential entry for pupils from Northcote Lodge and Broomwood Hall Upper School. Assessment via digital testing data and Head's interview. All-Rounder Scholarships worth up to 20% of fees available at both Year 7 and Year 9 entry.

Exit to study A Levels, IB or Btec at sixth form at another school or sixth form college.

HEAD TEACHER'S PHILOSOPHY: Education should be modern, relevant, and prepare children for the ever-changing world in which we live. In setting up a new school, I am in the fortunate position of being able to bring together the best, current practices in education with committed, innovative teachers who can transform the educational experience of our pupils so that they can move on to the next stage of their education with confidence.
