At Plymouth College, we believe our purpose is to educate, enrich and empower every single one of our pupils in an environment that is intellectually and emotionally stimulating, progressive and adventurous. First and foremost, Plymouth College is a place of learning. Exceptional teaching and support in very small classes help to ensure that every pupil fulfils and often exceeds their academic and intellectual potential. Our pupils achieve great exam results and secure places at Oxbridge and Russell group universities or top-flight apprenticeships.

In summer 2020, our pupils achieved a 99% success rate of grades A* - C at A level. Subjects that our pupils can study at A level include EPQ, STEM subjects and Business and Economics, as well as Languages, Art and Drama and Music. University destinations for our alumni include the University of York, the University of Exeter, Cardiff University and University of the Arts London, to name a few.

Beyond the classroom, the personal development of our children is at the heart of everything we do. Our pastoral care and wellbeing education are second-to-none and, through our wonderfully enriching programme of co-curricular activities, pupils learn to develop qualities such as resilience, humility and compassion, and skills, such as leadership, communication and team-working.

We want our pupils to become both leaders and champions: leaders of sports teams, leaders of the industry, leaders of their communities; and champions of their favourite subject or favourite activity or favourite cause. In doing so, we want them to understand the importance of service and society so that they lead for the benefit of everyone in society, not just themselves.

This holistic education is part of our DNA. Everything we do – every lesson, every form period, every activity – is a truly enriching experience for pupils and enables them to develop intellectually, academically, socially, morally and physically. They emerge from their Plymouth College education with fantastic exam results and as rounded, grounded, happy and confident young men and women.

"Pupils throughout the school are proud of what they achieve and speak with great passion about their experiences both in and out of the classroom." ISI, January 2019
