Established over 90 years ago, St Mary's is a fully co-ed preparatory school for children from nursery through to year 6 located in the heart of Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. The school offers academic success with a nurturing approach.

The small class sizes, which offer a solid boy-girl ratio, are led by inspirational teachers who engage and inspire young minds.  St. Mary’s approach reaps rewards, with results from academic yearly progress tests consistently exceeding the national average in all core subjects. Outstanding results ensure children are offered places at some of the most prestigious schools in the area, including the offer of scholarships, awards and exhibitions.

St. Mary's fully supports children through the process of deciding which school to move onto. This process starts as early as Year 4 when parents meet with Rob Harmer, Headmaster for initial discussions about the best destinations for a child, based on their academic ability, strengths and character. Early morning exam clubs are then offered to help prepare for the 11+ test and selective examinations and interviews.

Sport, French, Science, music, drama, and art are taught by subject specialists at St. Mary's and as such the passion the teachers have for their subjects is embedded in the pupils from a young age. Drama productions at St. Mary’s are impressive spectacles where children’s creativity is unleashed and confidence is built. On the sports field competitive matches against other independent schools see children’s team work skills develop week by week.

Outdoor learning and residential trips (years 3 – 6) help children develop resilience, courage and respect and an events calendar packed full of exciting opportunities ensures pupils develop a genuine love of learning for life.

At St. Mary’s the formative years of a child’s education are ones of excitement, investigation and discovery. The school offers open days to suit your diary. Contact the school on 01491 573118 or e-mail info@stmarys-henley.co.uk. For further information visit www.stmarys-henley.co.uk
