Wolverhampton Grammar School is a selective, independent school, located to the west of Wolverhampton. Families from across the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Shropshire choose the school because of its excellent reputation and mission to deliver education that transforms lives as well as minds.
Founded in 1512, the school is an iconic local landmark and remains the top independent school in Wolverhampton. With over 500 years of exceptional education history, the school is still the first choice for parents who want approachability and a human dimension to education. Large enough to be able to offer an experience like no other and yet personal enough to adapt to suit the ambitions and interests of every child.
The school provides education with a personalised curriculum full of academic and extra-curricular opportunities. Providing this experience to boys and girls from Year 3 through to Year 13 (ages 7–18) with students coming from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. Their knowledge and skills are diverse, and are a source of strength and richness to the school that partners with a range of local, national and international organisations.
The 23-acre school site blends stunning original architecture with creative, innovative learning spaces. Walk through the school and you will see how the Senior and Sixth Form buildings wrap around the Junior School; how superb grounds, a sports centre and pavilion provide the perfect showcase for sport and how the use of green and open spaces offer the ideal setting for the development of creative and critical thinkers.
The school accepts applications to the Junior, Senior School and Sixth Form throughout the year and there are a number of Scholarships and means-tested Bursaries available. As a selective, independent school all applicants (for Years 3–11) are asked to sit an assessment/entrance test relevant to their year of entry. Applicants to the Sixth Form are also invited to meet with the Head of Sixth Form. Students go on to achieve great things and have their pick of the best Russell Group and International Universities. The school also has a thriving worldwide alumni community of thousands in over 30 countries.
As the leading independent school in the area, demand for the school is high, it's therefore recommended that you contact the school as soon as possible to ensure you receive regular updates about open days and key application and assessment/entrance test dates.
The school actively encourages all applicants to visit and experience their approach to learning and it's famously welcoming atmosphere. To arrange a visit, taster or discover day or to register for an Open Day contact:
