International Celebrations at DLD College London

DLD College London recently hosted ‘International Day’, celebrating the diversity within the school community.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, many of the 60 nationalities within the Westminster Bridge-based college were represented by a carousel of vibrant stalls in the stunning college atrium.

Boarding students shared stories of their home countries, their cultures and gave an insight into some of the traditions, with many individuals showcasing unique items and national food for an authentic experience. The DLD cohort enjoyed sampling the assortment of food including dried caterpillars from Thailand, banana coffee from Laos, and Nigerian dried plantain chips, favoured by boarding dog, Sasha.

Assistant Principal (Head of Boarding) John Taylor commented, “There was a real buzz in the air and it was wonderful to see our students pave the way for the next generation in global understanding and acceptance of other cultures. The day very much emphasised that we are connected by our universal humanity and we look forward to continuing to provide opportunities to celebrate diversity within our college community.”

DLD College London is housed in highly contemporary, purpose-built premises in the heart of London, on 199 Westminster Bridge Road, overlooking the Palace of Westminster and the River Thames.

The College offers students the chance to study a wide range and flexible combination of A-Levels, BTEC courses, International Foundation Programmes (IFP) and GCSEs.

As part of the Alpha Plus Group, DLD College provides a 'gold standard' of educational quality. Classes are small, enabling students and teachers to focus upon the most effective ways of learning and to provide them with the highest levels of pastoral care.
