Three generations share stories as Packwood Haugh prepares to celebrate 125 years

The year 2017-18 marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of Shropshire prep school, Packwood Haugh, and preparations are well under way for a busy programme of events running throughout the year to celebrate this milestone.

Over the course of those 125 years, many families have had multiple generations of pupils at the school and their long association with Backwood was marked by a special 'Three-generation Lunch' – indeed, for one of the families attending, four generations have passed through the school.

Four current pupils joined their parents, grandparents and some of Packwood’s longest-serving members of staff for a delicious lunch and a chance to compare their Packwood experiences with the reminiscences of their relatives about what school life was like in the old days.

There was general agreement that everything from food, to dorms and bathrooms, to lessons and extra-curricular pastimes had all improved immeasurably! The youngest members of the party certainly did not feel they had missed out by not being at Packwood when pupils were tasked with helping to dig the hole for the swimming pool…

It was a very convivial occasion and a fitting way to set our celebratory year in motion.

Packwood Haugh is a coeducational day and boarding prep school for pupils aged 4-13.
