Twenty-five Millfield Prep pupils have gained top marks in a national computing competition.

Six pupils: Ziggy Capon, Zia Giaretta, Seb Guthrie, Zack Kleiner, Vivienne Lubbe and Toby Wong were awarded a gold certificate for being placed in the top 10% in the country for their age group.

Zia Giaretta gained the highest score of all the Millfield Prep school pupils and received a ‘Best in School’ certificate.

Bebras is an international initiative aiming to promote informatics and computational thinking among school pupils at all ages. The challenges are made up of a set of short problems called Bebras tasks and are delivered online.

Over 350,000 pupils nationwide took part in the UK Bebras Challenge this year, with 106,598 participating in the same section as our Year 7 pupils.

Jonathan Ford, who is the Head of Computing and ICT at Millfield Prep, stated: “The Bebras Challenge is a great opportunity for the pupils to express how they have developed their programming and coding skills so far this academic year and display their problem solving. The challenges were complex and we are therefore extremely proud of our pupils hard work and successful results.”
