LVS Ascot, an award winning, all-ability, independent day and boarding school set within a spacious 26-acre site welcomed Shona McCallin, MBE, England and Great Britain International Hockey Player and Olympic Gold Medallist on Friday 25th November to give Year 7 to 10 hockey player students a masterclass.

Shona has a phenomenal list of achievements including leading England to its highest ever finisher at the Junior World Cup in 2013, medalling at two Olympic games and one hundred combined international appearances.

After the masterclass, Shona led an inspirational talk in the fully equipped 250-seater theatre at LVS Ascot about her journey and how she got to where she is now. Shona talked to the students about how her achievements were through hard work and commitment. She said: “You don’t have to start very very young; you have to stick with it and be consistent.”

LVS Ascot’s Director of Sport, Emma Pearce, commented: “It was a fantastic day had by all Year 7-10 boys and girls hockey players. Shona was truly inspirational, and it was amazing for the pupils to hear about her journey in hockey so far. An experience the pupils will remember forever.”
