Two Upper Sixth Formers at Dauntsey’s have landed much sought-after apprenticeship and Year in Industry offers from leading companies including Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Airbus and Jaguar Land Rover.

Each offer was won against stiff competition of hundreds of applications and involved several rounds of rigorous interviews, aptitude tests, workshops, problem-solving tasks, and preparing and delivering presentations.

Samantha Arnold, who is currently preparing for her A-Levels in Chemistry, Maths and Physics said:

“On leaving Dauntsey’s I really want to further my education, but I wasn't sure University was the best route for me. I want to do engineering but there is not as much hands-on learning and application in University degrees as I would like.

“When I investigated Degree Apprenticeships, I realise they are the perfect opportunity to continue education, contribute to a workforce and company whilst getting that hands-on experience, which is really valued in the engineering industry. Going through this process, I learnt that many members of senior management teams began their careers as apprentices, meaning they are highly valued in these companies.”

An Apprenticeship enables students to combine earning and learning. There are several levels of Apprenticeships available including a Higher Apprenticeship which is the equivalent of a Foundation Degree and above and a Degree Apprenticeship which is the equivalent of a Bachelor’s Degree.
