Students and staff at Argyle House School are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results today, with pupils not only achieving strong grades but significantly exceeding their predicted outcomes. This year, 87% of students achieved at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics, representing an increase of more than 6% on previous performance. In addition, seven subjects achieved a 100% pass rate, including English Literature, while an impressive 96% of students secured Grade 4 or above in English Language.
Among the standout performers was Rohan Nair, who surpassed his expected grades by an impressive two grades on average. Another student, Elkan Yuen, achieved an exceptional six Grade 9s across English, Mathematics, the Sciences and Business Studies, demonstrating the breadth of academic excellence across the year group.
Headmaster John Sample praised the achievements of students, highlighting the school's strong value-added performance.
"We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved. What is particularly pleasing is the extent to which many pupils have exceeded expectations. GCSE outcomes are often measured against students' predicted grades, and this year our students have demonstrated exceptional value-added progress.
Around 40% of students achieved an average value add of at least one whole grade across their subjects, while the creative arts delivered a remarkable average value add of 1.74 grades. These figures reflect the hard work, resilience and determination of our students, supported by dedicated teachers who know every child as an individual.
The strength of our small class sizes allows us to provide personalised support and challenge, enabling pupils to flourish academically and personally. We are delighted to see so many students outperforming their expectations and look forward to following their continued success as they move on to the next stage of their education."
Students returned to school to collect their results alongside family members and teachers. Many members of the year group are now preparing to continue their educational journeys at local colleges, pursuing a range of further education courses and career pathways.
Fiona Carter, Group Director of Education at Forfar Education, also congratulated the students on their achievements.
"On behalf of everyone at Forfar Education, I would like to congratulate the students of Argyle House School on these outstanding GCSE results. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, ambition and commitment, as well as the dedication of the school's staff. We are immensely proud of all they have accomplished and wish them every success as they take their next steps."
The results continue Argyle House School's commitment to delivering high-quality education and ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
