Award-winning term of sports for Hazlegrove Prep School pupils

The children at Hazlegrove Prep School had an incredible term and their sporting successes have been far reaching – highlights on a regional and national level include:

  • 3rd place for our 1st VII Hockey team at the National IAPS U13 Hockey Finals
  • Senior Boys team winners at the National Prep School Cross Country Championships at Malvern College
  • Under 12 boys team – National Champions at the Schools Biathlon Finals at Crystal Palace as well as teacher Mr Campbell being crowned National Champion for a male teacher.
  • Winners of the South West U13 IAPS Hockey Finals
  • Nine athletes selected to represent Somerset at the South West Cross Country Championships
  • Two boys being selected for the ESAA Cross Country Finals in Leeds
  • Somerset County team champions in all four age groups at the Somerset County Junior Cross Country Championships
  • The school riding teams qualifying as a team and as individuals for the National NSEA Show Jumping Finals in October and for the National NSEA Eventers Finals at Hickstead in May
  • A bronze and a silver medal at the National IAPS Judo Finals

Katie Cobb, Head of Games, said: "It has been a very busy but very rewarding term for all. From the children in the Nursery right through to Year 8 our school ethos is one of a healthy and active lifestyle and this is certainly reflected in all of the sporting opportunities that are on offer. 

"We have incredible talent across the board and in so many different sports and we try to nurture a pursuit of personal excellence alongside developing the great values that are so important in today’s society; respect, fair play, commitment, sportsmanship and above all fun and a love of sport."
