Berkhamsted Lacrosse Roundup: Nationals Winners!

Posted on 14th Apr 2026 in School News

With two national titles, an MVP award and strong results across every age group, the Berkhamsted Lacrosse season comes to an end!

This has been a busy season for Berko lacrosse, with over 150 matches played across 15 teams. With high participation across year groups, we’re so proud of how our provision helps our pupils build confidence, feel happy and stay healthy. We’re also proud of our pupils who have Aimed High with Integrity to bring in some impressive results. From National Schools wins to MVP nods, our lacrosse community has had great causes for celebration this year.

U14A and U15B teams win National Schools Lacrosse

Two Berkhamsted teams were crowned National Schools champions this year at the recent tournaments. The U14A team celebrated their win on Tuesday 10 March and were followed swiftly by the U15B team this week.

Both wins reflect the hard work, trust and composure built within each team. We’re so proud of our teams for showcasing how Aiming High with Integrity is rewarded on the national stage.

U14A players Tabbie H and Tilly W commented on the experience of winning the tournament:

“Nationals this year was a great opportunity to have fun with our friends and play a sport that we all enjoy.

After a successful pool round, where we went unbeaten, we entered top 16 and top 8, winning both to enter the semis and ultimately onto the finals. Although being nervous is a normal feeling at big competitions like these, our coaches Miss Steed and Miss Bell were amazing at keeping us calm and relaxed, making sure we trust them, and each other. This reflected on from the hard work we have done across the year, again all thanks to Miss Steed's coaching. We wouldn't have won without her hard work, as well as ours.

I'm so grateful for the opportunities we get as a school, particularly with big competitions like these. Winning made the day even better and let me realise how proudweareto be a part of the Berkhamsted community.”

Other team successes at Berkhamsted

Numerous other Berko lacrosse teams also performed admirably at the tournament, showcasing skill, commitment and teamwork.

  • The U19A celebrated placing amongst the Top 8 Schools in the Championship, recording big wins in the early stages before a gruelling knockout in the quarter finals.
  • In the U19B division, Berkhamsted U19B came second overall, conceding only one unlucky goal in the final.
  • The U15A team were also runners up in their division, reaching the final with an unbeaten record.
  • Finally, in the U13 category, Berkhamsted reached the semi-finals, before losing in a close match to the eventual tournament winners.

Ella awarded Defensive MVP

In the U19 Championship category, 1st team captain Ella W was awarded the defensive player of the tournament. This recognised her outstanding play across the tournament.

She reflected on the experience: “Captaining the 1st team this season has been a huge privilege, and I’ve been incredibly proud to lead such a hardworking and supportive group of players.

Being awarded Defensive MVP was a real honour, but it reflects the effort of the entire team. Our communication, trust, and determination made it possible. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and proud of what we achieved together.”

Our lacrosse provision is designed to drive high-level performance, while still centring enjoyment and health. With a dedicated Strength & Conditioning staff, and 3 coaches at Berkhamsted who play international level lacrosse, we support every pupil to achieve their best.

We hope that celebrating these successes helps our pupils feel connected to the passion and satisfaction of playing sports, and that in every individual we are supporting a lifelong love of physical movement.
