Brentwood Preparatory School project reaches another milestone

Another significant milestone in the development and expansion of Brentwood Preparatory School was reached as concrete was laid on the second floor of the new North Classroom Block.

Representatives from the School including Preparatory School Headmaster, Jason Whiskerd, and the School’s Bursar, Jeremy Blunden, joined Simon Tucker, Director at award-winning architects, Cottrell and Vermeulen and Karl Patten, site manager at Rooff Contractors, to witness the view from the newly laid level.

This new block will eventually provide ‘front of house’ facilities for visitors and the School administration team. The top two floors of this block will house a suite of specialist teaching classrooms, including Science, Art. DT, ICT and a new ‘Futures’ Room to provide a space for experimentation.

Huge progress is being made on site, and whilst this building is still taking shape, the new Dining and Assembly Hall, which can be seen from Shenfield Road, is starting to be covered with high quality grey and red bricks on the side and a covering to the existing steel roof to ensure that the building becomes watertight.

Along with ongoing work to improve facilities across the whole school, and the introduction of a full time Nursery and 7.30am-6pm Wraparound provision starting in September this year, the project is on track to be complete by summer 2020 to welcome a wave of lucky new pupils.

Mr Whiskerd commented “It’s wonderful to witness such a hive of activity and to see these two buildings really take shape. They will transform not only the flow through the site but also the learning experience for the pupils, it feels as if the countdown has begun and I look forward to seeing further progress over the next year.”
