Churcher’s College Junior School Junior Recital Night

This year, CCJS’s concert was run with a very different aim to previous years: to involve as many children as possible showing the music they had been working on in the classroom.

The result was a larger-than-life showstopping inclusive evening of music and fun. It was a fantastic evening and we saw a wide variety of performances.

The show opened with the CCJS Rock Band – a new venture where the children involved have named themselves ‘The Black Knights’ and performed an original song. We were impressed; what a great way to open the show! We then saw our Chamber Choir, String ensemble and Wind band perform with a musical maturity beyond their years as we saw what could be achieved with dedicated work from our school clubs. The audience were then in for a surprise with a polished performance from the Poetry Club which gave us many laughs!

In the second half of the concert we saw all of Years 5 and 6 on stage singing and performing a variety of songs. Ukulele Club took us to the beach while playing some Bob Marley. Year 5 wowed us with their ‘cup song’ and Year 6 took the roof off with some musical theatre scenes from Annie.

The audience were blown away by the energy and enthusiasm of the children and everyone said what a thrilling concert it had been. We were so proud to see such talent here in the Junior School.
