Cobham Hall announces new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities centre
Posted on 25th Nov 2024 in School News, New facilities, Special Educational NeedsCobham Hall School is delighted to announce the launch of Bligh House, a pioneering new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) centre for students aged 11 to 16, set within the beautiful grounds of our historic estate in North Kent. Bligh House, developed in partnership with the Mill Hill Education Group and Chiltern Way Academy Trust (CWAT), opens in January 2025, offering world-class education and support for students with autism.
Bligh House will provide a therapeutic environment, blending CWAT’s specialised teaching methodologies with the values of independent schooling. Located in our serene, historic setting, students will benefit from a tranquil learning space equipped with modern educational resources and a range of exceptional facilities including; sensory rooms, quiet areas, a swimming pool, a sports hall, and extensive and peaceful outdoor spaces. The school, designed for students with autism, has a focus on small class sizes, personalised and holistic support from specialist staff, and an emphasis on developing life skills. Alongside their academic journey, students will develop critical self-management skills, independence, and self-confidence, with an overarching aim to prepare them for fulfilling lives.

A phased intake will begin in January 2025 with an inclusive cohort of up to 10 students, growing gradually to a capacity of 50. This approach ensures a carefully managed and smooth experience for all. Prospective parents are encouraged to register their interest early, as space is limited.
