Cobham Hall school girl becomes Kent champion

A school in Gravesham is celebrating the success of one of their pupils at the last weekend’s Kent County Track & Field Championships.

Pupil Eleanor Russell, 14, who attends Cobham Hall, Kent, competed in the field events of Javelin, Hammer, Discus and Shot Put. Eleanor scored personal bests in each of these events, claimed silver in the Hammer, and took gold in the Javelin. Her throw of 29.22m earned her the title of Kent Champion.

The result was even more impressive given that she had spent Saturday night camping in the School’s 150 acres grounds as practice for a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition later this year!

“This is fantastic news,” commented Head of PE Mrs Kelli Hooper. “We’re delighted to see another Kent Champion at the School, this time in a field event. We’re very proud of Eleanor’s achievements.”
