DLD College London supports children’s charity

Students from DLD College London have spent time visiting local charity Ambition Aspire Achieve to support young people living in the community.

Twenty dedicated students from the Westminster Bridge-based college, volunteered their time to the centre which provides care for those with severe disabilities from impoverished backgrounds, many of whom are unable to remain in mainstream education.

During the charitable stint, the team spent valuable time interacting with the children and playing games. Through forming mutually beneficial friendships, the individuals were able to learn from each other and the experience as a whole.

The young adults donned their rubber gloves to thoroughly clean the facilities, providing a fresh and welcoming space for the services users. The DLD cohort also took to the outdoors to tidy up the garden, which included the arduous task of chopping up old trees for recycling.

Director of Studies and coordinator of the charitable partnership, Gareth Evans commented: ‘At DLD College London we are passionate about supporting our local community, which is why we aim to present our students with opportunities to be involved in charitable events.

‘Our students were fantastic on the day and were a great representation of the college. They worked incredibly hard and it was inspiring to see them so enthusiastic about helping this worthwhile cause.’

Founder of Ambition Aspire Achieve Kevin Jenkins OBE added: ‘On behalf of the charity, I would like to thank the students from DLD College London for their brilliant hard work which is greatly appreciated by everyone at the Terrence Brown Arc.

‘The students left behind a greatly improved building and grounds, making a real difference. I hope everyone enjoyed attending the event as much as we did hosting.’

For those interested, the college is hosting an open day on Tuesday 8 May, 5pm until 7pm. To book a space, visit: https://www.dldcollege.co.uk/dld/students-at-dld/admissions-for-students/open-days/

Founded in 1931, DLD College London is one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in the UK, and since its foundation has built a strong reputation amongst students, parents, schools and universities.

In September 2015, DLD College London relocated to brand new, purpose-built premises in the heart of London, on 199 Westminster Bridge Road, overlooking Westminster and the River Thames.

The college offers students the chance to study a wide range and flexible combination of A levels, GCSEs, International Foundation courses and BTEC courses.

As part of the Alpha Plus Group, DLD College aims to maintain a 'gold standard' of educational quality. Classes are small, enabling students and teachers to focus upon the most effective ways of learning.
