Felsted School’s U18 Girls’ Hockey Team are through to the National Quarter Finals of the Investec England Hockey Cup after a closely fought game against St Lawrence College.

Having beaten The Leys at the end of the Autumn Term, Felsted were through to the Last 16 and knew they were in for a tough match against St Lawrence – a team boasting a number of junior international players.

After a tough start for the Felsted girls, they quickly turned this around in the second half to secure a 2-1 lead in a short space of time. It looked like a straight win for Felsted, but a goal in the final minute sent the game to penalty flicks. A miss from the opposition followed by an expert save from the Felsted goalkeeper and four skilled strokes from the Felsted girls saw a final triumph for Felsted, making them one of the top eight teams in the country.

Felsted School will face Wellington College in the National Quarter Final on Thursday 7th February.

Felsted has an enviable reputation for boys’ and girls’ hockey, locally, nationally and internationally and this season the girls have benefited from the expert coaching of Premier League hockey player Jo Westwood (Wales international).
