Felsted School 1st XV rugby team kicked off their 7s season by winning the plate at the Seaford 7s national tournament. They won four out of their five games, beating Hurstpierpoint, New Hall, Worcester and their hosts Seaford College, narrowly missing out on a cup win after a defeat from Gordon’s School.

Director of Rugby Andrew Le Chevalier comments; “This was the first time that we have entered this tournament which included several well-known schools. The boys put in some outstanding performances throughout the day and this is a great start to the Rugby 7s season.”

Rugby is a strong discipline at Felsted, with success at every level in the last few years. Overseen by Director of Rugby Andrew Le Chevalier (ex Wasps), the School currently holds partnerships with Saracens and Northampton Saints RFC, helping build a pathway to success for current players at all levels.

Many current pupils play for league academies including six at Saracens, four in the Lambs National Squad and four at Northampton Saints, with Yr 13 Samuel Bryan representing England U18s. There are also a number of former Felstedians playing at professional level including Max Malins and Ollie Stonham (Saracens), Ehren Painter (Northampton Saints) and Rory Hutchinson who recently represented Scotland in the opening Six Nations game vs Ireland.
