School celebrating as its girls were unbeaten in a national netball competition, crowning them county champions and earning a place in the regional stage next year.
Finborough School in Stowmarket is delighted to celebrate the exceptional achievement of its Under 19 Girls Netball Squad, who triumphed in the first round of an England Netball National Schools Competition.
The competition brought together eight schools from across Suffolk, each fielding a team in the U19 category. Finborough’s squad dominated the tournament, winning every match and securing their place as category champions.
The team, comprising talented players from Years 10, 11, 12 and 13, was captained by Year 13 students Molly Atkin-George (Deputy Head Girl) and Mya Moody. Their leadership, alongside the squad’s skill and unity, proved instrumental in the team’s success.
Mrs. Donna Cooper, who has been Head of Netball at Finborough School for two years, coached the squad, providing guidance and experience that was pivotal in developing the team’s competitive edge. She shared her pride in the team’s performance, saying that, “The girls played with incredible heart, discipline and determination. Their teamwork and resilience were outstanding, and I couldn’t be prouder of how they represented Finborough."
Headmaster Mr Steven Clark added, "This is a fantastic achievement for our students and a testament to the strength of our sports programme. We are immensely proud of the team and grateful to our staff for their dedication. We wish the squad every success as they move forward to the regional round."
The team now advances to the regional round of the competition, where they will represent Suffolk and compete against other county champions from the East of England on 7th February.
Finborough School congratulates the entire squad and looks forward to supporting them in the next stage of their journey.
