First Years at Churcher's College learn to restart a heart

Enormous thanks go to the members of South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust who very kindly spent all day on Wednesday 16 October teaching our First Year pupils about CPR and safe defibrillator use on World Restart A Heart Day.

Pupils were given the chance to practice safe CPR techniques on dummies before being shown how to work a defibrillator. The pupils were given the option to ask questions and they showed much enthusiasm in doing so.

The clear message from the day was that it is always better to take some form of action to try to help someone in an emergency as any action is better than none. Therefore pupils were encouraged not to be afraid to give CPR a go if they felt someone needed it.
