Grimsdell welcomes Alexander Armstrong

Grimsdell, Mill Hill Pre-Preparatory School were giddy with excitement when Alexander Armstrong, of ‘Pointless’ fame, visited the school along with the team from Classic FM.

They have been performing 24 concerts in 24 hours to raise money for ‘Global Make some Noise’, and Grimsdell were thrilled to be selected as the only school on the quest, with venues such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Wembley on the list too!

Our Year 2 children were treated to a stunning piece performed by Alexander himself, wearing a black Tuxedo and having no sleep for the last 20 hours.

Year 2 then performed their own song ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’ which they did with great musicality and feeling. The bell of awesomeness was rung three times by the pianist!

Needless to say the children and adults loved the experience and the team at Classic FM said this had been their favourite venue so far. Maggie gave them much coffee and cake to help them on their way and Mrs Webb made sure Alexander Armstrong signed one of our school magazines! Last but not least we gave him a Toffee Bear as memento of his visit.

He was an absolutely charming gentleman, full of warmth and lovely with all the children. Thank you to Mrs Dobson (Charities and Community Links Coordinator) and Miss Gale (Head of Music – Maternity Cover) for making this happen!
