King's College welcomes in the Chinese New Year

King's pupils and staff at the prep and senior school celebrated their annual Chinese New Year Supper and welcomed the Year of the Rabbit with approximately 100 guests.

The dining hall looked beautiful, decorated in vibrant red and gold by several pupil helpers just an hour beforehand, and as ever the Catering Team did a superb job in setting up the tables with individually designed place settings (made by Nicky Richards from Catering) and Chinese red wallets, as well as an abundance of Chinese sweets selected by the pupils.

The evening opened with speeches from members of the Upper Sixth, firstly in Mandarin by Ailsa C, then the Cantonese version by Samuel C and finally the English translation by Brian T. The speeches were followed by a presentation and vote of thanks to Mrs Wrobel and the Catering Team by the Deputy School Captain, Nigel H. The atmosphere was happy and relaxed and the food was outstanding with the Chinese spare ribs proving a particular favourite.

Mrs Wrobel would like to extend her thanks to all the pupils who contributed to making it a very special event once again, with particular thanks to Ariel F and Ailsa C from Upper Sixth who helped organise the seating and made the individual name cards.
