Year 7 pupil Eliana Brealey has recently toured with the Welsh National Opera in their production of Puccini’s La Boheme. Eliana is a highly talented singer and was delighted to seize the opportunity to perform in one of opera’s most popular and unforgettable stories of the love affair between young poet Rodolfo and seamstress Mimi.

At only 12 years of age Eliana is no stranger to performing on the national stage having sung with Only Kids Aloud and the National Youth Opera and was one of only 12 children to be chosen to sing in the WNO production. Music is her favourite subject and in particular her singing lessons with Llandovery College singing teacher Claire Hammacott, herself a West End star.

The Tour opened at Cardiff’s Millenium Centre, moving on to Dubai before returning to the United Kingdom for the final leg of the tour. The visit to Dubai was undoubtedly the highlight of the tour and the WNO gave three performances at its magnificent new opera house. Whilst there Eliana and her family had time to savour all the exciting sights and sounds of the modern city including visits to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.

Eliana said: “I had a fantastic time and enjoyed every minute of the tour. Everyone got to know each other and looked out for each other and it was like one big happy family. It was a wonderful experience.”

Warden Guy Ayling said: “Llandovery College has a particularly rich heritage of performance and we are extremely proud of our latest talent.”

Llandovery College is a coeducational boarding and day school in Wales for pupils aged 4 to 18 years.
