Merchiston Golf Academy is delighted to congratulate Cameron A on his superb placing in the 21st Faldo Series Championship, which was held in the United Arab Emirates last week.

The competition hosts approximately 60 of the world’s leading junior golfers. Achieving fourth place in the U16 competition, and 17th in the U21, was an extremely impressive result considering Cameron was competing in a tournament against some of the world’s most talented young golfers.

Cameron said: "My Faldo Series Championship experience was one I will never forget! The courses I played, the people I met and the opportunity of playing golf in the UAE all helped further my understanding of the game. The tournament course, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, was a good test and I really enjoyed the course and the shots and challenges it threw at me. I felt I could score low and compete to win.

"After the first and second rounds, we took part in clinics with Sir Nick Faldo himself. These clinics were incredible and I could take his pointers and practice techniques and straight away use them in my own game. I found these very helpful in the tournament. Although I did not play my best golf, I played well enough to come fourth in the under 16s, and seventeenth in the under 21s, which bettered my targets, a huge positive to take from my invaluable experience.

"After the tournament, I was lucky enough to have time to play on the Earth Course, Jumeirah Golf Estates. The experience of playing this course was incredible; never mind having a hole in one on the 17th! This was probably the most memorable moment for me because not only was it my first hole in one, but it was on such an historic hole on a course in which the best golfers in the world play on every year!"
