Millfield netballer Sarah Long has been selected for the Isle of Man Under 21 squad for the Netball Europe Open Tournament in November.

Fifteen-year-old Sarah, from the Isle of Man, joined Millfield as a boarder in Year 9 two years ago and is a committed member of Millfield Netball having featured in the U14A and U15A squads, as well as vice captaining the U16A team during her time here. Goal attack/wing attack player Sarah will compete in the tournament from 12-14 November where she hopes to gain her first international cap.

This is the second time in a year Sarah has been recognised by her nation, she was recently selected for the Isle of Man National U17 squad at the age of just 14.

Sarah says, “I am so thrilled and can’t wait to play for the U21 Manx Rams (Isle of Man Netball). Thank you to all of my coaches at home and at school, I am looking forward to playing my very best for the Isle of Man.”

Year 11 Sarah will be playing alongside Millfield’s new strength and conditioning netball coach Alice Cross, who has also been selected into the nation’s side.

Director of Netball, Jenna Adamson will also be at the tournament with Wales netball who will be playing a test series against the Isle of Man. She says, “A fantastic achievement for one so young and still with so much potential. I'm really looking forward to seeing Sarah in action in November.”

Sarah’s selection is the first of two international call ups this year for Millfield students. Old Millfieldian Jemima Bugeja has been selected for the National Swiss Open Squad to compete at the Netball Europe Open Challenge in Gibraltar in October.
