New Zaha Hadid building leads to record-breaking results at Berkhamsted

Today, Berkhamsted celebrates another record-breaking year of A Level results following their 2026 Examinations. Nearly a quarter of entries were awarded A* (23%), and over half were awarded between an A* and A (57.5%), with 83.4% of entries awarded A*-B.
Seven Berkhamsted Sixth students will be going on to study at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, in Mathematics, Classics, Biomedical Science, Ancient and Modern History, English Literature, Chemistry and Geography. A large number go on to top Russell Group universities, including the University of Warwick, Imperial College London and Durham University, the 2025 Times University of the Year.
In addition to these outstanding results, 112 students took an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) in addition to their A Levels, achieving 88% A*- A.
This was the first A Level cohort to spend over a year in the new Zaha Hadid Sixth Form, and its impact has been clear to see. Berkhamsted’s academic culture has seen a shift: during term time students chose to arrive early to study together in the collaborative spaces, or stay until the late afternoon, while others made use of supervised study sessions with teachers during school holidays and study leave. “I just think the working environment is unbelievable,” commented Sophie T, a student at Berkhamsted Sixth.
These remarkable results demonstrate the strength of our academic culture, but that is only one piece of a sixth form education. Intrinsic to a Berkhamsted education is a commitment to character, leadership and personal growth that benefits students long after they leave the School. These results are just the first step in what comes next for this exceptional group of Berkhamstedians.
