Night walk challenge for Northbourne Park pupils

On Friday 17th March, Northbourne Park’s Heads of School and House Captains undertook the annual challenge of The Night Walk.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to navigate along the ancient Roman Road between Northbourne Park School and the English Channel at Dover.

Lead by the Heads of School George William Jones and Charles Defour, the children worked in two groups to complete a variety of tasks around the scenario of World War II and ‘The Great Escape’. The tasks included collection of ration packs, sending secret Morse Code messages and collecting ID cards along the way. The children did brilliantly to complete the 9.4 mile hike, reaching the Dover sea front where they enjoyed a well-earned hot chocolate.

Priscilla Smith, Head of Outdoor Education said: “I would like to thank all the children and staff in making this event such a success and a privilege to be a part of. The Night Walk is a challenging event for our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils which helps develop teamwork, resilience and endurance key skills. It helps prepare children for an ever-changing world.”
