Northbourne Park School celebrates European Day of Languages

On Wednesday 26th September, Northbourne Park School celebrated European Day of Languages in style, embracing the multitude of foreign languages spoken by pupils and staff.

Children came to school dressed up in either the colours of a flag or a traditional outfit. It was a sight to behold and the colourful outfits that the children wore really brightened up the playground.

At break time, the children had the opportunity to see quite how many languages are spoken in our school, 11 in total, as our gifted linguists ran a ‘speed-speaking’ event, during which they taught other pupils how to say a few words in languages such as Chinese, Danish, Gaelic and Dutch.

Mrs Hutchinson, Head of Modern Languages said: “An appreciation of other languages is a vital part of any child’s education and at Northbourne Park, we show our pupils how important languages are and what fun it can be learning them. Well done everyone.”
