On Saturday 8th September 2018, Northbourne Park School opened the new academic year with its inter-house Olympiad Games.

The competition is a great way for the children to start the term, to get to know each other and it certainly brings out the best in their team spirit.

This was the 10th Olympiad and the first inter-house trophy up for grabs in the school calendar with pupils representing one of the four school houses: Drake, Marlborough, Nelson or Wellington.

Blessed with fine weather, the children took part in a wide range of activities. There were fine displays of leadership and teamwork throughout the morning as pupils competed in the nine extracurricular competitive challenges: Welly Throwing, a Maths Quiz, Science Challenge, Design Technology, Hit Ball, Netball Shooting, Leadership, Poetry Writing, and a Languages challenge. This year, the winning house was Wellington. Congratulations to all the competitors.

Craig Riley, Director of Sports, said: ‘This was a wonderful morning of Inter-House competition, with each individual contributing towards their House and learning to join in with other children. A wonderful team event.’
