Pocklington School’s Under-15 rugby union team topped a remarkable year with an impressive performance against Beths Grammar School in the national final of the NatWest Schools Cup Bowl.

The Pocklington side showed spirit and determination throughout the lively and hard-fought game at the Sixways Stadium, Worcester on 28th March.

The final score was 37-27 and could have gone either way until the south east London side came back from a late Pocklington try to seal victory with their own try two minutes before the final whistle.

Reaching the final was an amazing achievement for the Pocklington team, who won just two games in the entire previous season. They turned their form around this year after focusing on confidence-building.

Gareth Hughes, Elite Director of U15 Rugby at Pocklington School, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of this journey. Well done to all involved; the boys have done the school, the team and themselves proud.”
