Felsted School welcomes the addition of Premier League hockey player Jo Westwood to coach across the Prep and Senior School. Jo has 90 senior Wales caps and has attended two commonwealth games.

Since joining Felsted, Jo has kicked off the domestic season playing for Holcombe Ladies 1st XI in the Investec Premier League and has represented Wales in a test match against Scotland. This year she has also been involved with the GB Development training and played with them against Holland U21s last month.

During her time at Felsted Jo intends to develop the hockey programme with consistent coaching principles through all years; enhancing the transition between 7-a-side games at Felsted Prep, to 11-a-side at the Senior School.

Jo comments: "I have enjoyed coaching my first month at Felsted. There have been a number of different challenges working with the various groups but with specific skill sessions and one to one coaching, all age groups are showing real improvement.”

1st XI captain Amber Aitken comments: "We absolutely love having Jo with us. She is always bringing new drills and ideas to training that have helped our team to improve. It is great that she is still playing at the top level herself, and so she has made our training really fun and effective."

Hockey is already a strong discipline at Felsted, with three national finalist teams in 2018 including a National plate win for the U13 boys as well as five teams winning the county title. Scholarships are available from age 13 for those showing commitment and excellence in sport.
