A 12-hour swim in the school pool at Spring Grove recently raised over £1,000 for Demelza House – the children's hospice in Kent. The Swimathon was held in the last week of the Summer term and involved all pupils from the Reception class to Year 6, staff members, Old Springgrovians who came back to school to take part in the event, parents and grandparents. From 6am onwards someone was always swimming lengths in the school's heated and covered pool – whether it was with woggles and adult help, or at other times competitively against the clock. The Swimathon culminated in a fun disco swim, and finished at 6pm with a grand total of 3,429 lengths completed.
Alongside the Swimathon the Friends of Spring Grove parents' association organised a wonderful Summer Celebration which was enjoyed by the whole Spring Grove community. Together the Swimathon and Summer Celebration raised a grand total of £1,823 which Spring Grove is proud and delighted to be able to donate to Demelza.
