St. Andrew’s School was delighted to have received a Special Mention in the Education Choices Awards 2026 in the category Developing Student Voice, recognising the strength and impact of its School Parliament.

The national awards celebrate outstanding practice across the education sector, with entries this year judged by Dr Joseph Spence and Dr Sandie Okoro OBE. The judges highlighted schools demonstrating meaningful, embedded approaches to pupil participation and voice within school life.

At St. Andrew’s, our School Parliament plays a central role in shaping day-to-day school experience. Pupils are actively involved in decision-making, contributing ideas that directly influence school development, wellbeing initiatives, and community life.

The recognition places St. Andrew’s among a small number of schools nationally acknowledged for innovation in this area. The award follows a highly competitive field of entries from across the UK independent and specialist education sector.

Mrs Steinmann-Gilbert, Principal of St. Andrew's School said: “We are proud that our pupils’ voices are not only heard, but acted upon. Rather than being symbolic, pupil voice is embedded in our structures and acts as a genuine channel between pupils and staff. Our School Parliament reflects our belief that children should play an active role in shaping their school environment, and this recognition is a testament to their ideas, leadership and confidence.”
