Cranleigh has once again been listed in the top 100 schools for cricket in The Cricketer’s Guide to 2020.

All entries were judged against an extensive set of criteria, with the chosen schools having outstanding facilities, fixture programmes and coaching.

Last weekend saw two of Cranleigh School’s Cricket Coach Mr Stuart Welch’s former cricket students pitted against each other in New Zealand A vs England. Both Old Cranleighan Ollie Pope and Ajaz Patel (pictured) played for Cranleigh Cricket Club in the past two years.

Mr Welch said: “It’s a brilliant outcome for grass roots cricket when players that have been a big part of local sport are recognised on the international stage. I’m proud to have helped them both and delighted that Cranleigh is again featured in the list of top schools in the country for cricket.”

The Cricketer magazine editor Simon Hughes said: “Our Guide celebrates schools cricket and gives deserved praise to all those teachers and coaches who put in the hard work to develop our future club, county and international cricketers. Having watched many schools matches this summer I am pleased to report that the standard of cricket programmes and the level of passion for the game is as high as ever.”
