Tributes, Tree-Planting and Tears

On Tuesday, all pupils and staff made their way to Rochester Cathedral to take part in the Charles family final Whole School Service. This service was dedicated to commemorating their journey over the last six years by remembering their impact on the School, through singing the family’s favourite traditional hymns, doing a fun, modern quiz and to finish, planting a ceremonial tree in the Paddock.

The celebrations began within the Cathedral with a procession and collective and individual hymn-singing which showcased the variety and depth of the musical ability of the School.

Later on, the Charles family were invited onto the stage to partake in a quiz about some of their different memories and events that had happened at King’s over the last six years, which really emphasised the King’s community spirit, as some of the audience also participated, giving their thoughts on what the answers were too! After the service, everyone headed out to the Paddock, to watch the historic tradition of the tree-planting ceremony, which was a wonderful piece of King’s history to witness. A sad but special day for all and one that will always be remembered.
