Headington Rye Oxford is a highly successful day and boarding school in Oxford for 800 girls aged 11-18 with a Preparatory School for 350 girls and boys aged 3-11 occupying its own site just across a pedestrianised lane. The school offers girls and boys an unrivalled opportunity to pursue academic, sporting and artistic excellence in a caring and nurturing environment.

Opening in September 2024 following a merger between Headington and Rye St Antony Schools and set in 35 acres of playing fields and gardens, the superb facilities provide the perfect backdrop for teaching and learning that extends way beyond the classroom and curriculum. Headington Rye Oxford encourages participation in all aspects of sport and culture, teamwork and leadership, challenging girls to discover and explore their own potential and achieve more than they thought possible.

Through the sheer breadth of subjects and activities at Headington Rye Oxford, the school aims to educate the complete individual, giving pupils the confidence and self-awareness to compete, contribute and succeed at school, university and in their adult lives.

Facilities

Headington Rye Oxford offers a superb range of facilities to support and enhance learning.

These include a state-of-the-art Music School complete with recording studio, 240-seat professional theatre, Dance and Fitness Centre, Swimming Pool and award-winning Library. A new Creativity and Innovation Centre opened in September 2021 and a state of the art Food and Nutrition Centre opened in April 2022, while a new boathouse for the championship-winning boat club is due to open in Autumn 2023.

Outside the classroom

More than 120 extra-curricular activities take place every week. A wide choice of subjects, sports, interests and hobbies including such diverse pastimes as Debating and Robotics, Cheerleading and CCF.

Headington Rye Oxford offers a genuinely inclusive approach to sport and encourages each girl to enjoy sport at the level that suits her. Girls can choose from more than 30 different sporting activities, from Athletics to Zumba. The school enjoys national success in a wide range of sports including Fencing, Rowing, Cross Country, Swimming and Equestrian.

Hundreds of individual music lessons take place each week while the school has a wide selection of orchestras, choirs and instrumental ensembles.

There is a busy programme of productions in our Theatre each year and pupils become involved in all aspects of theatre, from writing and producing their own plays, to lighting, costume and make up.

A huge range of dance options are on offer, from Ballet to Street Dance and Contemporary. As well as annual Dance Shows, our dance company competes in local and national competitions.

Boarding

Headington Rye Oxford has always been a boarding school and just over a quarter of the school board with us today. The five boarding houses provide the girls with a 'home from home' where, supported by a team of highly experienced staff, they learn to develop into mature and independent young people. Many boarders come from the UK and the school is also very proud of its international boarding community, made up of more than 30 nationalities from all over the world. Girls can choose between full, weekly or half-weekly boarding.
